Biography

I am currently associate professor of Computer Science and Technology at Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Nanjing, China. I received my B.E. (1999) in Computer Science and Engineering and M.Phil. (2001) in Pattern Recognition and Intelligence System with first-class honors from Nanjing University of Science & Technology, Nanjing, and Ph.D. (2006) in Computer Science and Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong. I joined the faculty of Nanjing University of Science and Technology as assistant professor in 2005 and accepted my present position in 2006. From Feb. 2009 to Feb. 2010 I worked as visiting post-doctoral fellow at the Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA.

I have broad interests in machine learning, computer vision, neural networks, pattern recognition, and intelligent robotics. Currently, I am interested in the following machine learning topics and related application areas.

  • Statistical learning: active learning, model selection and regularization, and dimensionality reduction.

  • Application areas: computer vision, robotic perception, network security, and bioinformatics.
